Hello my name is Tara and this is my first blog post. So I guess I should tell you a little bit about me and how I got started with Curve and Pixel. I am a graphic designer based in sunny Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve been a creative at Omnibrand since 2011, happily creating websites and logo’s, posters and flyers for a handful of loyal clients.
I love the freedom that comes with design work, and while my Bree Street office has the best view of Signal Hill, I enjoy the freedom of being able to work from anywhere that has a reliable internet source and great coffee.
Too much coffee maybe?
Speaking of coffee, too much screentime and not enough downtime, makes for square eyes (and square designs), and in 2016 I realised that I needed to turn the power off for a bit and get my hands messy with a personal side-project of some kind… but what?
A new passion
Luckily, It didn’t take long to discover a new passion. One Uber trip to the Deckle Edge art shop in Woodstock, was all it took to get me kitted out for a brand new kind of obsession. With the wacum tablet safely transferred to the top drawer, out came the watercolors, the ink and the brushes and before someone could say “Curve and Pixel” I was up to my elbows in paint splatter and it was time to design a logo for my new little business.
Through Curve and Pixel, I get to express my creative side, painting freehand, and offering handmade watercolor and ink designs that I then convert to designer-friendly digital formats such as AI, EPS, PSD, PNG and JPG.
